DRG History

In 1999 Diversified Resource Group was established by two Citadel graduates sharing the same entrepreneurial spirit that still drives the company today. In 1998, while Chris Tattersall, Citadel Class of ’88, and Darrell Creedon, Citadel Class of ‘90 were working together for an Atlanta-based “big three” contract furniture dealer they had their “Jerry McGuire” epiphany. The thought was simple; shouldn’t the client be presented with a solution that is right for their project each time every time? Shouldn’t the client always come first? It sounded so obvious. But if it was so obvious why were they constantly being pressured by the big manufacturer to find a fit for their products regardless of the client’s needs or budget? Force the products of the aligned manufacturer, make it work; meet quotas to keep the line.

Chris and Darrell knew there was a better way; they knew that if they truly put the needs of the client first, provided complete and honest information and treated the clients’ business as if it were their own they would be successful. DRG opened for business May 1999 in Chris’ basement. From there, they have grown the business steadily over time with a commitment to always doing the right thing. In 2003, at approximately 2,000 SF the first working showroom was opened in Norcross, GA. Business continued to grow steadily and the clients they had established in the first few years of business were now contracting DRG to develop their offices across the southeast and in some cases throughout North America. The company grew the sales team and the support team as it was obvious that what clients really needed was confidence that they were working with an experienced, knowledgeable staff that would not let them down.

Staying in Norcross, in 2006, DRG relocated the showroom to a space just under 4,000 SF where they still operate today. Consistently appearing on the Atlanta Business Chronicle’s Book of Lists as one of the Top 20 Contract Furniture Dealers in Atlanta DRG isn’t caught up in being the biggest and has no sights on that lofty perch. As Darrell says, “Telling the truth is our underpinning. Our company will always be about character and competency as a solutions provider. We never tell someone we can do it if we can’t.”

Even with a relatively small group DRG boasts over 125 years of industry specific experience. That is immeasurable when it comes to serving the customer, anticipating project pitfalls, creating smart workarounds and delivering projects on time and on budget. “We strive to be a knowledgeable partner and provide quality service and products. We are big believers in collaboration at our firm not just with each other but with our client and their project team. We must exceed client expectations each and every time,” says Chris. “We want to be a long-term strategic partner for our clients. The best compliment we receive is when our clients refer to us as their consultant.”
